Dawn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received her Master’s Degree from Stony Brook University and began her career working in the substance abuse treatment field. She has over a decade of experience working with people who struggle with addictions and co-occurring mental health issues. Trauma-informed therapy is her specialty as is gender-specific therapy for women.
Dawn has extensive experience working with families of people with substance use disorders and is well versed in the syndrome of Adult Children of Alcoholics and Substance Users (ACOA). Dawn believes that every person has the capability of healing from their past and she provides a safe, welcoming environment for people to explore their potential.
Dawn’s model of therapy is Person-Centered and Strengths-Based, inclusive of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Coping Skills Training, Emotional Regulation, and a strong focus on healing trauma through the Seeking Safety practice.
