Out of an abundance of caution, we suspending the Trans-Affirmations Group and the Transgender & Non-Binary Youth Groups, until further notice
Trans-Affirmations is a transgender support group that an inclusive peer-support, discussion, and social group for those who question the gender binary and their placement in the spectrum. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 7:30PM - 9:30PM.
The meetings are open and welcoming to anyone who identifies within the Trans spectrum, regardless of what peoples’ thoughts are on transition. The group is a good area to explore the many facets of being transgender in our society.
The group is jointly facilitated by Jennifer Fazio, LMSW, however the group’s goal is for the participants developing a sense of group ownership. Participants are encouraged to give input, lead discussions, and provide discussion topics. It is our hope that participants will feel that it is their group, so they can make it what they want.
Some of the past discussion topics have include:
Body image
Transition/post-transition
Living outside of the gender binary
Medical and emotional health
Gender presentation/”blending”
Coming out
There is no cost for this group, but donations are encouraged, to help supplement program expenses. A $5 donation is suggested, but no one is turned away.
Our group is open to anyone who identifies on the transgender spectrum and to friends, family members, partners, and allies. We meet at 7:30PM on the second Tuesday of each month at The Freedman Center. Contact Jennifer Fazio, LMSW at jfazio@FreedmanCenter.com for more information about this vibrant group.
